My old cleaner was around 10 years old and wouldn't work in my pc but did work in the blue-ray player. I got this one because of the price and reviews. I wouldn't run a cleaner much more than that, for fear it would scratch or cloud the lens. Once a year cleaning with the Trisonic might have prevented the problem altogether. Still, a six dollar fix that brought an expensive deck from zero back to 90% is pretty impressive, especially considering that my local repair guy charges a minimum of $70 to work on pro equipment, whether he succeeds or f ails. There are still some CDs it won't play at all, that will play in the opposite deck, including one I just burned. The deck is still a little finicky, but will now play most CDs on the first try. After that, I was able to run the cleaner a few times. It may have helped that the CD was at least spinning the brush for a few seconds.
Since it wasn't playing, it took several tries to get the cleaner instructions to play. They're pretty hard to take apart to clean the laser lens, so I decided to give this a try. The Husky bit did seem to start bending by the time were were finished with it, so just keep an eye on it.I have several dual deck DJ CD units. Use the smallest Phillips bit included in the set, as it seems to fit the best. Unfortunately, the Wii uses a triwing screwdriver, which we weren't willing to wait to have shipped now that we had gone out and gotten Brawl early.įortunately, it appears that the "Husky 8-in-1 Precision Screwdriver" set appears to work if you apply a little force and set it correctly into the triwing screw slots. We've taken apart both of our GameCube's in the past to adjust the laser frequency dial so they would continue to read game discs, so we figured disassembling the Wii must be relatively similar. Still, this was very disappointing and will result in quite a few Wii and Smash Brawl returns. We've got a smoker in the house and it's a sure bet there was plenty of dust in there, so it was a given the laser was likely too dusty to read the dual layered Smash Disc.
Hi there, we picked up Smash Brothers Brawl last night at a midnight releasing and were shocked to find that our Wii couldn't read the disc.
This will likely void any warranty, but it is however useful to know how to perform home repairs on consoles) ( If you're going to attempt to clean the laser, please do so with caution.
